Yoga can be used as an alternative therapy for children with special needs. Through various breathing techniques and physical practice it can help to increase concentration, flexibly, and strength.
It can also help to develop coordination and reduce tension, stress and anxiety. Yoga also allows children to develop awareness and truly understand their body.
Once children get to know their body, then they can begin to focus on areas of improvement such as poses, stretching, breathing techniques, etc. Letting a child with special needs practice yoga opens the door to a number of benefits and could become an important part of his or her regular treatment.
